Prime Minister of St. Maarten, William V Marlin, is leading the charge for the “joint development” of geothermal energy in the Caribbean. Recent studies have confirmed the potential for the resource in Nevis, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda. The latter country just announced its intention to study whether geothermal resources are available in sufficient quantities on the island.

PM Marlin however, is promoting the idea of a regional energy network, utilizing the natural resources available in abundance throughout the Caribbean. He says, “develop the geothermal energy in the Caribbean, [and] we can say goodbye to fossil fuels”.
