Stephen O’Malley

Mr. Stephen O’Malley is the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative for Barbados and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States. He took up his post in August 2013.

 

Before this assignment, Stephen spent 12 years in the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the UN Secretariat in New York. His last post was as Deputy Director, Coordination and Response Division from March 2013 until August 2013. From 2008-2013, he was Chief, Central Emergency Response Fund Secretariat, and from 2001-2008, he served in a variety of roles in OCHA related to southern and central Africa. Prior to joining OCHA, Stephen spent seven years with the non-governmental organization Médecins sans Frontières in North America, Europe and Africa. He started his career in the private sector with Decima Research in Toronto, Canada.

 

Stephen holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) and a Master of Arts in Political Studies from Queen’s University, Canada, and a Master of International Affairs, from the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University, USA.
