Spain to invest in Cuba’s renewable energy sector

Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced his plans to keep investing in Cuba, including their renewable energy sector.

The Prime Minister spoke at a forum held in Cuba for over 200 Spanish and Cuban companies.

Government spokeswoman Isabel Celaa said Cuban and Spanish officials spoke at length about climate change and renewable energy.

Spain is currently Cuba’s third largest trading partner, with trade worth USD 1.3 billion in 2017. Sanchez’ government announced their view to promoting investment in Cuba’s renewable sector. This announcement comes after Cuba’s plans to adopt a new constitution in February that should facilitate foreign investment.
