Solar panels installed on Costa Rican capital’s traffic lights

A solar PV installation was completed in the Greater Metropolitan Area of San José, Costa Rica.

These works correspond to the last stage of the project to provide the 474 traffic light systems monitored at the Traffic Control Center with solar panels.

In this fifth and final stage of the plan, a total of 132 intersections had solar PV panels installed. This solar project was financed by the Road Safety Council (COSEVI), this latest phase costing USD 1.5 million.

The works were carried out by Sistema Empresarial RC S.A. The company is also responsible for supplying and placing the photovoltaic systems.
