Solar company boosting residential energy independence in Puerto Rico

Sunrun, an American solar company, will work with local companies to help distribute energy storage, solar systems and batteries to local homes.

The company has said that the batteries will be particularly helpful for private homes as they can be installed in one day, recharge daily and hence provide clean, constant and reliable energy without the need of the national grid.

Lynn Jurich, executive director of Sunrun, also stated that their presence on the island will help create new jobs, contribute to the growing economy and help homes create their own sources of energy. Governor Ricardo Rosello, is also pleased with the company’s activities, as he believes they are contributing to rebuilding progress and development.

Sunrun is one of many solar companies who sent help to Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria hit the island and has been present in the reconstruction of the national grid.
