Acciona’s 5th wind farm begins operations in Tamaulipas, Mexico

The Spanish wind company Acciona, has started commissioning  a 183-MW wind farm (El Cortijo) in Tamaulipas, Mexico. Over the coming weeks, commissioning works will be finalized and the wind farm will run at full capacity. In Mexico’s first long-term power auction, the El Cortijo project secured 585.5 GWh of power and clean energy certificates. In a later third auction, Acciona was awarded 52 MW of guaranteed capacity from the wind farm, serving as a third revenue source in addition to clean energy certificates and electricity sales.

This will be Acciona’s fifth wind farm in the country, bringing its capacity to 740 MW. The Spanish company is also building a 404 MW solar project in the state of Sonora.
