Renewables make up a fifth of energy sources connected to Chile’s central grid

Chile’s National Energy Commission has published a report which highlighted that over a fifth of the country’s energy sources connected to the central grid are from clean renewable sources.

The total installed capacity of renewable energy is of 4.884MW.

In the sector of geothermal energy generation, 40MW are currently in testing phase, 120MW are in the final approval stages and 50MW are in qualification stage.

Various geothermal project also have pending exploration or exploitation concessions.
