Renewable industry key in attracting foreign investment for El Salvador

The Economic Commission for Latin America reported that the Foreign Direct Investment in El Salvador is US$792m, representing approximately twice the amount of the last years.

This new record in foreign investments has been mainly due to the manufacturing industry which attracted US$414m, but also by the electric sector specifically the renewables which attracted a total of US$98m. The Commission has emphasized that the development of industries such as renewable energy have been crucial in diversifying the economy, improving local expertise, and creating a new workforce.
