PV + storage on St. Eustatius will meet 23% of power demand

PV Magazine recently published an article about Germany-based SMA Solar Technology‘s recently completed PV + storage project on the Dutch island of St. Eustatius. The system will generate 23% of the island’s 13.5 GWh annual electricity demand, cutting diesel use by 800,000 liters annually.

 “The project fully integrates three different energy sources on a large scale that work together in a harmonized manner: solar power, battery storage and diesel gensets,” says Volker Wachenfeld, Vice President SMA business unit Off-Grid and Storage.
