Puerto Rico utility to add 240 MW solar

By June 2019, Puerto Rico power utility Autoridad de Energia Electrica (AEE) will add 240MW of solar capacity. These plans were revealed in a press conference by AEE director, Ricardo Ramos Rodríguez, who noted that the capacity will be generated by large-scale PV projects built through private investment. All projects are already contracted. A further 300 MW of renewable energy capacity is expected to be built by June 2021, with 200 MW of storage installed to complement. Rodríguez said the new renewable capacity will enable a reduction in power prices.
