Puerto Rican school’s microgrid to provide energy security to community

A rural school in Puerto Rico is about to become the first public school in the country to use 100% renewable energy with a solar + storage microgrid. Solar energy company, Sonnen, donated two microgrids to a rural school and community. In addition to electricity, Sonnen will also install a water purification system, which when combined with the microgrid will disconnect the community from the national grid and water system. The first microgrids installed by the company were in Loíza, followed by installations in La Perla, Morovis and Humacao.
