Private sector playing big role in Central American Renewable Market

The number of renewables projects in Central America has been growing and attracting international investments, which have helped promote the development of innovative and clean projects. Today, in most countries of the region, private investments have surpassed public investment, which aim to promote decentralized projects throughout the country.

The region produces 54.4% of their total electricity capacity from clean, renewable sources of energy, with the biggest project being in Guatemala, followed by Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.

Future expected growth in non-conventional resources of energy has come in hand with growth in interest and foreign investment.
