Panama issues its first green bond

Panama’s first green bond has been emitted by the InterAmerican Corporation for Infrastructure Financing (CIFI).

CIFI is the leading non-bank financial institution in Latin America and the Caribbean specializing in infrastructure and energy financing, and has many years of experience in the sector.

CIFI  has employed MMG Bank to structure and allocated this USD 200 million bond.

“Although these bonds are aimed at financing sustainable development projects, the Corporation has wanted to channel them to projects that include investment in waste management facilities, wastewater treatment, effluents, recycling and waste diversion, cogeneration, wind energy , solar, geothermal, as well as hydroelectric power with a capacity of 25 MW and less, favoring the mitigation of environmental and social risks”, announced CIFI through a press release.
