New Fortress Energy, an affiliate of the US$70bn Fortress Investment Group, confirmed today that it will assume a senior sponsorship role at CREF 2016. In 2015 New Fortress signed an agreement to supply LNG for Jamaica’s 120 MW Bogue power plant in Montego Bay. The first shipment of gas arrived on August 5th. New Fortress is finalizing construction of the Montego Bay LNG terminal and expects mechanical completion within the month. New Fortress will leverage its participation in CREF to explore opportunities for Jamaica to become an LNG hub for the region. Wes Edens, Founder and Co-Chairman of the Board of Fortress Investment Group will lead a substantial delegation from the company and will himself participate on the agenda in a speech which will focus on the long-term transition of the Caribbean energy matrix, and how renewables, not gas, are the ultimate endgame.
