Jamaica’s first utility-scale solar plant enters its third year of operations

Content Solar Ltd, Jamaica’s first utility-scale PV power plant, celebrated its two-year anniversary of commercial operation.

The plant, which was built using climate-resilient technologies, produces more than 44GWh of clean electricity and powers 20 000 households annually.

The $63 million project, developed by WRB Energy and owned by WRB Serra, will provide energy under a PPA with the Jamaica Public Service Company for the next 18 years.

“Content Solar is delivering on its promise to increase renewable energy production cost-effectively and help stabilise electricity costs for sustainable growth and environmental well-being in the communities we serve,” said Mr. Robert Blenker, President and CEO of WRB Energy.
