IDB to invest $20m in renewable energy in Nicaragua

The Inter-American Development Bank is investing $20m in small and medium renewables enterprises in the country. Nicaragua is already obtaining 54% of its total energy production from renewable sources including geothermal, solar, biomass, hydro, and wind.

This new line of credit provided by the IDB will keep strengthening the industry and help Nicaragua reach its goal of using 90% of renewables by the year 2020.

IDB has invested more than $300m in Nicaragua in the last few years.
