Haiti Government to Introduce Bill Removing Import Duties on RE/EE Equipment

Frantz Duval, a journalist for Haiti newspaper Le Nouvelliste, reports in a recent article that the Haitian government plans to introduce legislation as part of the 2017-2018 Finance Act which will relieve all renewable energy and energy efficiency equipment from import duties.

Although details of the Finance Act are yet to be released, this appears to be a clear indication that the new government under Jovenel Moïse is mapping a new course for the country’s electricity sector.
