Geothermal project in St. Kitts & Nevis looking for investment

The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) announced that the geothermal project on the island is stalling whilst they look for further fund to support the production of renewable energy.

Premier Mark Brantley said between USD 50 to USD 60 million are needed so the project may move forward.

The first phase of the project, the exploration, has already been undertaken. The next steps will include drilling the production wells, building the plant and connecting it to the national electricity grid to transmit power.

The Premier was strong in his assurances that the NIA is committed to bringing geothermal on stream to benefit the citizens of Nevis, and the rest of the federation.
