First phase of solar PV plant in Dominican Republic completed

After a year of construction, the 1.5 MW solar PV plant commissioned for cement producer Domicem was inaugurated in San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic.

This is the company’s first solar power project. The first phase of construction included the installation of 4 616 solar panels. The second phase, set to start in the next few days, will expand the project’s energy capacity to 6MW.

The power plant was inaugurated by the Delegated Administrator, Adriano Brunetti; the Vice-President of Domicem, Osvaldo Oller; the President of the National Energy Commission, Ángel Canó; the President of the National Climate Change Commission, Ernesto Reyna; and the Minister for the Environment, Ángel Estévez.

The solar power plant installation was led by Empresa Solar, and Consorcio Ecoterra.
