European Union commits 18m EUR to Cuba’s the renewables sector

The cooperation between the European Union and Cuba has become more important due to their common interest in fighting climate change.  An example of this is the recent agreement signed by both entities, which has the objective of supporting and financing energy policies in Cuba.

This 18m EUR agreement – signed on the 15th of May in la Habana – will direct half of the funds to innovative projects for two main sectors: renewables and energy efficiency. This makes the energy sector of the island one of three main focuses of the European Union in Cuba, the other two being agriculture and economic development.
