El Salvador tender brings in over 1GW of bids

El Salvador’s renewable energy tender of 170 MW brought in over 1 GW of bids from 19 companies. The country’s power distributor, Delsur, said that the combined bids of 29 solar and wind projects total $2 billion. Proposals came from local and international investors, including US, Spain, France, Israel, UK and Germany. Delsur expects the contract prices to be priced favorably given the competitive nature of the bidding process.

Bids included 25 projects totaling 940 MW of solar and 4 projects totaling 150 MW of wind. Bid winners will be approached in January 25, 2017 and contracts will be signed by March.
