El Salvador solar gets $50m funding

El Salvador might be seeing more solar in its future. The Obama administration announced its intention to provide further funding for renewable energy worldwide, including solar projects in El Salvador.

The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the US government’s international finance division, will commit $50m towards eight utility-scale solar PV projects in El Salvador. These projects will help the country to move away from heavy reliance on imported fossil fuels and strengthen energy security.
