El Salvador publishes guidelines for 28 MW tender

El Salvador’s energy industry is open for business. Seeking to acquire 28 MW, the government is requesting bids to total 20 MW from solar energy and 8 MW from biogas.

The public bid process will start the 14th of August of this year and will end the 12th of December. The winners from this bid are expected to be owners of the projects for fifteen years and must start providing solar energy twelve months after signing the contract and biogas eighteen months after the contract is signed.

This public bid is estimated to attract $58m in the next three years and it is expected to provide energy to 41,000 homes.

This will be El Salvador’s third public bid, the second one ending in January 2017 and awarded 119MW of solar energy and 70 MW of wind energy.
