Danny Gutierrez appointed Belize’s first Ambassador to CARICOM

Belize’s newly appointed Ambassador to CARICOM, Danny Gutierrez, says that he is committed to making 2016 a year of action.

“The hard work of our colleagues who diagnosed our hurdles and proposed a strategic plan must be matched by action… The best years of CARICOM lie ahead,” said Gutierrez in a statement released from Guyana.

Gutierrez previously served as the marketing, logistics and communications manager for Belize Natural Energy Ltd., a position that he has held since 2006. CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque expects that the diplomat will help shape the future direction of the integration movement including the implementation of CARICOM decisions at the national level. He also urged Gutierrez to use his experience in communications and marketing to increase public awareness about CARICOM and its benefits to Belizeans. Belize has used its unique position as a member of the Caribbean Community and the Central American Integration System (SICA), to act as a catalyst for stronger ties between the two regions.
