Costa Rican green urban development project starts construction on renewable energy systems

Cuestamoras Urbanismo’s latest project ‘OXÍGENO Human Playground’, a 125,000 m2 recreational and commercial area with more than 15,000 m2 of green areas for public enjoyment, will include renewable energy installations for self-consumption.

Enertiva, a key player in the solar energy sector in the Central American region, has started construction on a 1.1 MW solar energy system for the OXÍGENO project. With more than 3 300 solar panels to be installed, this is will be one of the largest roof solar energy developments in the country.

The project will also include wind turbines for energy production, and ‘solar trees’ for consumers and visitors to charge their electronic devices.

The complex is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
