Costa Rica break record for renewable energy generation

In Latin America, Costa Rica continues to prove itself as a renewable energy powerhouse. This year Costa Rica has run infrastructure for 122 days strictly with renewable energy and is now aiming for a year without fossil fuels. This success continues from 2015, when the Country was powered for 285 days by renewable sources. Costa Rica owes its success to a combination of hydroelectric, wind, solar and geothermal energy. It remains the frontrunner and a model for renewable energy development across the Latin American and Caribbean regions.
