Brazil state launches incentives for solar energy

Brazil’s Goias state launched Thursday a solar power incentives programme with the goal of promoting the generation and use of solar energy.

The Goias Solar programme will focus on a myriad of issues such as taxation, financing, de-bureaucratization, development of the supply chain, communication and training of professionals. Despite its name, the programme will also contemplate other renewable energy sources, the government noted.

Among its main actions, Goias Solar will create the FCO SOL credit line in the first half of 2017, help simplify the state environmental licensing for photovoltaic (PV) projects, and increase solar activitys in the Goias social housing programme (Agehab).

In addition to these actions, the programme will also seek to increase the approval speed of projects and improve the quality and access of the transmission lines.
