Bermuda publishes IRP proposals for public consultation

After an initial consultation process for the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), Bermuda’s future electricity plan, the Regulatory Authority of Bermuda (RAB) has published the eight alternative generation proposals it received.

Among the suggested projects are a steam-fired power station using biomass fuel technology, an offshore wind farm, a hydrogen-based steam generation project, and a ship-based LNG power station.

Proposals have been received from several innovative companies in the renewable energy sector, including BE Solar, BCM McAlpine and Bouygues Energies and Services, Sol, Bermuda Environment Energy Solutions Group Consortium, Brad Sorensen and Arpheion Inc, and Enviva and Albioma.

The Bermudan government invites stakeholders and the public to comment on these proposals between now and November 13th via the RAB website (www.rab.bm/electricity-public-consultations/).
