Barbados received funding for renewable energy projects

Barbados has received 1.4 million euros from the European Union as a second tranche of financing under the 11th European Development Fund Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Budget Support Programme.

This funding for renewable energy will be used to support Barbados towards its goal of becoming 100 per cent fossil fuel-free by 2030.

Barbados has steadily become more energy self-sufficient using local renewable resources. The implementation of the Barbados National Energy Policy has also shown the government’s commitment to clean and renewable energy.

The European Union continues to support Barbados during this energy transition, and has welcomed the government’s new regulations and legislation to support investments in renewable energy technology.
