David Razú Aznar is an economist with extensive experience in the financial sector and expertise in financial management, social security, and labor economics. Since 2021, he has served as Chief Executive Officer of Afore XXI Banorte. Under his leadership, the institution became the largest pension fund in Latin America and a leading force in responsible investment in Mexico and across the region.

Prior to this role, he held several positions in government and financial institutions at both the national and international levels, focusing on social security, labor markets, and urban development finance. In the political sphere, he served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Mexico City, where he championed the 2009 same-sex marriage initiative—the first such measure to be approved in Latin America.

He holds a degree in Economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), where he also completed a diploma in securities finance. He earned a master’s degree in Development Management from the London School of Economics and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University. He has served as Professor of Deficit Financing and Public Debt at the National Institute of Public Administration and as an Assistant Professor of Intermediate Economics at ITAM. He is also a columnist on economic and financial affairs for a range of national and international media outlets.
