Deputy Director, Mexico & Head of Sustainable Finance, Latin America
Arturo Palacios is a sustainable finance expert with over 18 years of experience in the business, development banking, and academic sectors, collaborating with non-profit and public-sector organisations, nationally and internationally.
Arturo is Deputy Director for Carbon Trust’s Latin America office and leads the organisation’s Sustainable Finance work in the region, where he contributes to the development of innovative financial instruments and programmes that advance green and social practices across sectors. He has played a central role in advancing large-scale climate initiatives, including leading the consortium that supported the Ministry of Finance (SHCP), the World Bank, IFC, IDB and IDB Invest in the development of Mexico’s Sector-Thematic Transformational Investment Plan under the Climate Investment Funds’ Industrial Decarbonisation Program.
Arturo has extensive experience working with governments, financial institutions, and international partners, including AFD, IDB and KfW, contributing to flagship sustainable finance programmes in Mexico such as EcoCasa or ProSostenible.
Previously, Arturo worked as Senior Manager in operations and securities settlement at the Mexican Stock Exchange, managing the whole lifecycle of mission-critical IT and financial infrastructure platforms. He holds a Master’s Degree in Technology Policy with a specialisation in Sustainable Development from the University of Cambridge; and a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering by ITAM.
