Managing Director for Central America, Mexico, Haiti and the Dominican Republic
Eric Parrado is Managing Director for Central America, Mexico, Panama, Dominican Republic, and Haiti at IDB Invest, where he leads the institution’s strategy and operations across the region, drawing on an extensive track record in financial management and economic development.
Before joining IDB Invest, he served as Chief Economist and General Manager of the Research Department at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) from 2019 to April 2025. Previously, he was a professor of economics and finance at the ESE Business School of Universidad de los Andes in Santiago, Chile. Mr. Parrado is a visiting professor at the University of Oxford and ETH Zurich and Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Frontier Risks. From 2014 to 2018, he served as Superintendent of Banks and Financial Institutions of Chile. In this role, Mr. Parrado advanced reforms including the modernization of banking legislation and the creation of new financial inclusion instruments.
Mr. Parrado holds a degree in business engineering from the University of Chile, as well as a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in economics from New York University.
