Country Representative in Mexico
Laura Ripani is the IDB Group Representative in Mexico. Prior to assuming this role, she served as Chief of the IDB’s Labor Markets and Social Security Division.
Throughout her career, Laura has specialized in the future of work, with a particular focus on expanding opportunities for women and young people. She has published extensively in academic journals on labor markets, social security, and social protection.
With more than 25 years of experience, Laura has become a recognized thought leader on labor-market issues and the future of work. Before joining the IDB, she worked at the World Bank on projects related to gender and labor markets in Latin America and the Caribbean.
She holds a PhD and a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, as well as a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Economics from the National University of La Plata in Argentina.
