Ken is a Director for Smart Grid in the Emerging Technology and Business Strategy group within the Energy practice. He serves electric sector smart grid and micro grid clients in the areas of investment analysis, project evaluation, market assessment, business model evaluation, project finance, technical design, technology operations, program and project management and cyber security.

Ken’s experience spans 15 years of on-the-ground information and operational technology business application, as well as executive-and governance-level leadership, in both business management and technical consulting roles, spanning the electric power, consumer engagement, chemicals, natural resource extraction and manufacturing industries.

Ken previously served as the smart grid investment Program Director leading a US Department of Energy-funded $18.4MM Smart Grid Investment Grant program across five municipal electric utility service territories. Technology investment scope included: smart grid architecture strategy, investment planning, business case, AMI, MDM, CIS, OMS, SCADA, web presentment, business intelligence, time-of-use rates, direct load control, cyber security and consumer education.

Prior to this role, Ken served as co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of a Cambridge, MA-based big data and media technology start-up focused on leveraging online technologies to drive consumer engagement. He began his career as a student energy auditor at a U.S. Department of Energy-funded Industrial Assessment Center.
