Senior Energy Economist and Hydrogen Lead
Dolf Gielen is the hydrogen lead at the World Bank’s Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP). His work is focused on providing technical, policy, and financing support to developing countries and emerging markets to accelerate hydrogen deployment. At the World Bank, he advises hydrogen engagements with governments and public institutions as part of the drive to strengthen carbon financing worldwide while ensuring a just energy transition. He has more than 20 years of experience on hydrogen and has led initiatives on renewable energy and innovative technologies at the IEA, IRENA and United Nations. He holds a PhD from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.
