Oscar Urrea is an electrical engineer, he graduated from the Universidad de los Andes, has a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the same university and studied Financial and Economic Evaluation of Investment Projects, Mining and Energy Law and Economic Regulation with an emphasis on the energy sector.

He has been linked to Ecopetrol since December 2011, a period in which he has worked as an Economic Regulation professional, Head of the Strategy and Marketing Department of the National Management of Refined and Crude Oil, Head of the Price Information and Counterpart Evaluation Department of the Market Intelligence Management, and as Energy Manager of the Commercial and Marketing Vice Presidency.

In his 25-year career, Oscar Iván has held various positions in public and private sector entities and in academic institutions. He was a consultant for Ecocarbon, Information Deputy Director of the Mining and Energy Planning Unit – UPME, General Manager of Ecodiesel Colombia SA, a palm biodiesel production plant, Public Manager of the Electric Power and Related Goods and Services Sector of the Ministry’s Productive Transformation Program of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Associate Researcher and Consultant of the Universidad de los Andes and Consultant of the Development and Peace Program of Magdalena Medio.

As Energy Manager of Ecopetrol’s Commercial and Marketing Vice Presidency, his main tasks are to ensure the optimal supply of energy to Ecopetrol and to incorporate renewable energies into the group’s supply matrix.
