Franz Drees-Gross

Regional Director for Infrastructure, responsible for the Latin America and Caribbean Region


Mr. Drees-Gross has been the Regional Director for Infrastructure, responsible for the Latin America and Caribbean Region since July 2019. He was Practice Director in the Transport Global Practice (2017 -2019), Country Director for 13 Pacific Island countries (2013-16), and Director of Strategy and Operations in the Office of the Chief Executive Officer IBRD/IDA (2016/17). Before this, he held various positions in the Sustainable Development (SD) Sectors, including as SD Sector Manager for Indonesia (2010-13), SD Sector Leader for Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay (2007-10), and SD Sector Leader for the Andean countries (2004-07). Mr. Drees-Gross joined the Bank in 1997 as a Young Professional. Before joining the Bank in 1997, Mr. Drees-Gross worked as an engineer in Cote d’Ivoire, Peru, and Yemen. He holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Management from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT).
