Technical advisor for the Program on the Promotion of Geothermal Energy in Central America


Karla Hernández Chanto is a Technical advisor for the Program on the Promotion of Geothermal Energy in Central America, implemented by the German cooperation GIZ. She works as the leading advisor on energy and gender mainstreaming. She also serves as the Gender Focal Point for GIZ national office in Costa Rica which supports the national personnel and human resources to create local awareness and give assistance on gender mainstreaming in development projects, at a national level.
 
Prior her time in GIZ, She worked as communications strategist and capacity building officer for different international development organizations implementing regional project in Central America and that working on sustainable development issues such as biodiversity conservation, political and environmental advocacy. Last year, she was part leading team and joint cooperation effort between LaGeo, the World Bank and GIZ to implement the first WinGmen Special Taskforce training to address gender equality in geothermal operational sites.
