José Salvador Handal Candray currently holds the position of Executive Secretary of the National Energy Council of El Salvador, having under his responsibility the formulation and implementation of the National Energy Policy, fomenting the existence of regulatory frameworks that promote investment and the competitive development of the national energy sector. he has represented El Salvador on the Regional Electricity Market Director Council (CDMER), Energy Coordination Unit in SICA (Central America Integration System) and member of the Board of Directors of the Transaction Unit (UT), (Operator of the National Electricity Market). Previously, he held various positions in the national company dedicated to the exploitation of geothermal resources (LaGeo), as Coordinator of Renewable Energy Research, Director of Geothermal Potential Evaluation Projects and Chief of Scientific Geo Research.

José Salvador Handal Candray graduated in Physics, with a Master in Renewable Energy and Environment, both degrees from the University of El Salvador. With extensive experience in the area of ​​geothermal, geophysics and research and development of renewable energy.
