Gastón Siroit

Gaston Siroit is a consultant at the Mining, Geothermal Energy and Hydrocarbons Cluster of the Infrastructure and Energy Sector at the IDB and he is based in Bogotá, supporting LAC region from the Colombian IDB Country Office.

He holds a master’s degree in engineering from the ITBA in Argentina, a mechanical engineering Master’s degree from the INSA of Toulouse (France), a master in Logistics and Projects from the Ecole des Mines de Paris and a specialization in Oil and Gas from the French Petroleum Institute (IFP).

Gastón has more than 15 years of experience in the energy sector in different sectors and countries. He started his professional activity in a refinery in Argentina and then had the opportunity to work in the Caribbean, and different countries in Africa and Europe onshore and offshore. During his career, he worked in the private Oil & Gas sector (upstream & downstream) in the Projects and Operations areas for Shell and Total. 

In 2017 he returned to Argentina after a long expatriation period, and he had the honor of holding the position of Renewable Resources and Technology Director within the Secretary of Energy of Argentina until 2019. During his assignment, he promotes the incorporation of geothermal to the electric energy mix.
