Ruben Muñoz Bustos is Head of Geothermal at Chile’s Ministry of Energy. A trained civil electronic engineer from the Federico Santa María Technical University, he specializes in the development and implementation of public policy and programs within the energy sector. From 2010 on he’s been in charge of the regulatory development and the administration of the geothermal concession system as well as the development of the regulatory framework for solar thermal systems in homes. From 1998 to 2000, he worked in the National Energy Commission charged with the implementation of Chile’s Rural Electrification Program. He also drove the implementation of efficiency measures such as the design of energy labeling program for household appliances.
