Senior Energy Specialist, Energy and Extractives Global Practice


Peter Johansen is a Senior Energy Specialist in the World Bank’s Energy and Extractives Global Practice based in Washington, DC. He holds an M.Sc. degree from the Technical University of Denmark and has more than 35 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, 16 years of which, working in the World Bank. He has experience from planning, financing and implementing a variety of renewable energy technologies including wind power, solar PV, hydropower and geothermal energy in a wide range of countries. He is presently in the World Bank’s East Asia and Pacific Region and is among other things the task team leader for three geothermal projects in Indonesia, including developing a new Geothermal Resource Risk Mitigation (GREM) Facility aimed at scaling up the utilization of Indonesia’s geothermal resources.
