Coordinator
Vanessa Interiano is the Permanent Representative of El Salvador to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Coordinator for International Energy Affairs. Prior to this, she served as Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, concurrent to Ireland. Before her posting to London, she was a Senior Advisor at IRENA based in Abu Dhabi; and prior to that, a Senior Advisor at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna. She has also served as Ambassador to Austria, concurrent to Hungary and Slovakia and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Vienna.
Her diplomatic career also includes posts at the embassies in Washington D.C., Paris, and the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York. Her professional experience has been focused on issues of diplomacy, international relations, energy, communications and international cooperation.
She has a master’s degree in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Westminster, England with a Major in Management and Conflict Resolution. She holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations and advertising from a private university in San Salvador, El Salvador, and pursued specialized studies in Diplomacy and European Studies from the International Institute of Public Administration in Paris, France.
She was born in San Salvador, El Salvador; she is married and speaks Spanish, French and English.
