Edwin Mejía is an energy specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) where he manages the energy portfolio for El Salvador and provides technical support to the Bank’s portfolio of energy projects in Latin America and the Caribbean. In his role, he promotes dialogue on energy public policies, promotes the modernization of the sector and regional integration, and facilitates capacity building. He is an electrical-industrial engineer with a master’s degree in electrical engineering, specializing in renewable energy integration, and a master’s degree in business administration, with a focus on finance. Before joining the IDB, he worked as a consultant on energy issues for the World Bank, as well as for the regulator and government agencies of the electricity sector in Honduras. In addition, he has worked as a university professor, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on energy issues. His expertise focuses on the integration of variable renewable energies, energy efficiency, universal energy access and regulation of the electricity sector.
