Energy Specialist
Matilde Urquizo is an energy specialist with 15 years of experience in energy transition, geothermal development, renewable energy integration, and clean hydrogen in Latin America. She recently joined Nippon Koei LAC, where she contributes to the growth and strategic expansion of the company’s energy sector across the region. Previously, she served as a consultant at the Inter-American Development Bank, where she designed technical and climate finance programs and coordinated regional initiatives such as CertHiLAC and RELAC. At Ecuador’s public utility CELEC EP, she led the development of the national geothermal portfolio, managing strategic cooperation with partners such as JICA. She holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from ESPOL and a Master’s in Renewable Energies. She was the founding president of the Ecuadorian Geothermal Association (AGE) and served as Ecuador’s ambassador for Women in Geothermal (WING).
