Sheena R. Gosine is the first woman to graduate with a distinction from the MSc. Renewable Energy Technology Programme from the Department of Physics at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine affiliated with the University of Flensburg, Germany. She is also a qualified educator holding a Postgraduate Diploma in Education with teaching specialty of Science.
She has had both local and regional experience in both the fields of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. She was one of the first movers and shakers as part of the Renewable Energy Division at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI), being part of the initial core team responsible for oversight of Project Lara the first Renewable Energy Utility Scale Project for Trinidad and Tobago (T&T). Ms. Gosine was also integral to the development of a Draft Hydrogen Economy Framework for T&T and currently serves in the Office of the Permanent Secretary as part of the Secretariat. She also represents the MEEI on several technical committees linked to the Implementation and Monitoring of T&T’s Nationally Determined Contributions.
Ms. Gosine recently represented Trinidad and Tobago at the 13th session of the International Renewable Energy Agency Assembly held in January 2023 in Abu Dhabi and is currently a mentee in the Rocky Mountain’s Institute (RMI) Women in Renewable Energy Program.
