NATIONAL ENERGY COMMISSION (CNE)
Executive Director
Engineer Edward Antonio Veras Díaz is graduated in Electromechanical Engineering with a major in Electrical Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD for its acronym in spanish). He also has a Master’s Degree in Pure Mathematics from the same university. Mr. Veras has complementary studies in Project Management and Evaluation (PMI), Process Management, Management by Indicators, Applied Statistical Modeling, Operation of Electrical Power Systems, Electrical Markets, Quality Management (ISO 9001), Optimization and others.
Between 2014 and 2018, he directed the Mathematics Institute of Universidad Autónoma of Santo Domingo. Then he became an associate professor of Mathematical Analysis and Advanced Mathematics at the School of Mathematics of this university from where projects financed by shared funds between UASD, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESYCT for its acronym in Spanish) and the International Center of Pure and Applied Mathematics (CIMPA for its acronym in French) are managed.
He is also a researcher at CIMPA, participating in two mathematical research proposals in Convergence Methods and Linear Programming.
For 11 years he worked at the National Electric System Coordinating Organism of the Dominican Republic (SENI) in the operation of the Electric Power System, managing projects and processes concerning operation reprogramming, evaluation of remote data management, improvement of reported information, implementation of control protocols, among others. He is co-author of the publication: “Semilocal Convergence Newton Method Applied to Kepler Equation: New Results” in the British Journal of Mathematics & Computer Science. He is also co-author of the Voltage Control, Frequency Control, Maneuver Control and Operational Communications Protocols, approved as operating policies of the National Electric System.
Edward has given lectures and conferences on research reports in National Research Congresses (MESCYT, UNIBE Universities) and is a lecturer-consultant on operation of the Electricity Market in the Training Center of the company INPROCA. He has attended as a guest at international events such as the Joint Mathematics Meeting of the American Mathematics Society where he participated as a juror in a student poster session. He has also attended the IEEE Power Energy Society, Congresses sponsored by CECACIER, the Latin American Congress of Mathematicians sponsored by UMALCA where he presented a report on the realization of the 1st EMALCA in the country as a member of its Organizing Committee, before the General Assembly of that organization.
