Hon. Wilfred Arthur Abrahams is a Barbadian lawyer, politician, and current Senator. 

Early life and education

Wilfred Arthur Abrahams was educated at the St Giles Boys School, Harrison College, University of the West Indies Cave Hill and the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad.

Career

Wilfred Abrahams is an attorney-at-law and founder and head of Aegis Chambers and specializes in Civil Litigation and Commercial law. He has headed the local and regional legal professional organizations and has the honour of being the youngest ever president of both the Barbados Bar Association as well as the Organisation of Commonwealth Caribbean Bar Associations. Wilfred is currently the Caribbean Representative on, and Council Member of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association. He also sits on the Board of Trustees of the Caribbean Court of Justice Trust Fund, the body charged with managing the Trust responsible for financing the Court in perpetuity.

Abrahams was appoined an opposition Barbados Labour Party Senator in 2013, following his unsuccessfuly attempt at winning the Christ Church East seat in the 2013 election. 

He successfully contested the Christ Church East seat for the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) in the 2018 general election, defeating incumbent Denis Lowe. He was appointed Minister of Energy and Water Resources in the Mia Mottley Administration.

Personal life

Wilfred was the advisor to the St John Association of Barbados from 2006 to 2011 and has been associated with a number of other charities including the National Forum Against Domestic Violence and the SAVE Foundation and is an actual road walking, tin carrying, poppy distributor for the Barbados Poppy League (which service he does every year with pride).

In the area of Sports, he is on the arbitration panel of the Barbados Olympic Association and is the Secretary of the Barbados Fencing Federation. Wilfred recently represented Barbados as a member of the Barbados Fencing Team at the 2010 CAC Games in Puerto Rico and is a Grandmaster of the Barbados Rifle and Pistol Federation.
