Dr. Denise Braithwaite-Tennant is the Chief Executive of the Turks & Caicos Islands Hospital, InterHealth Canada and has over 20 years of experience operating at various levels in health care. She has been privileged to be at the forefront of initiatives that has driven hospital and health system development, continuous quality improvement, people centred services and health innovation.  The Turks & Caicos Islands Hospitals is operated by InterHealthCanada under a public private partnership with the Turks & Caicos Islands Government. InterHealth Canada was responsible for design and build of the two acute secondary care facilities. Since April 2010, InterHealth Canada is also responsible for managing both the clinical and facilities services on behalf of the government of the Turks & Caicos Islands.

Dr Braithwaite-Tennant has been with InterHealthCanada for over a decade and continues to play a leadership role in the hospital accreditation program. The program has led to the tremendous achievement of four successive accreditations at the Diamond level under the Accreditation Canada international program. 

Dr Braithwaite-Tennant graduated from the University of the West Indies with a specialist degree in emergency medicine. Thereafter she obtained a masters in International Management with a specialization in health sector management from the University of Liverpool. 

Her vision for the Turks & Caicos Islands Hospital includes the harnessing of advances in the health technology and infrastructure landscape to become more resilient, environmentally friendly, people centred and services delivered at the highest possible levels exceeding expectations in performance and patient experience.

She is the wife of Detorrie and mother to d’Janelle, d’Anne and Dontaeo. 

Her interests include public speaking, empowering women and the delivery of leadership development programs.
