Managing Director, Corporate & Investment Banking
Pim van der Burg is Managing Director, Corporate & Investment Banking, at CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank, a role he assumed in December of 2015. He leads a team of banking professionals in the provision of a full range of corporate, commercial and investment banking services to small, mid-size and large corporates, governments, financial institutions and international trading companies throughout the region.
Pim joined the CIBC FirstCaribbean group in 2006, following the acquisition of the Caribbean operations of the Dutch banking group ABN AMRO. He was responsible for the integration of the acquired organization within CIBC FirstCaribbean. Under Pim’s leadership the team expanded the business from international oriented activities only to local banking services, mainly for large corporate clients, institutions and high net worth individuals. Pim also championed the roll out of the Wealth Management products offered in Curacao to the other Wealth Management Centres of CIBC FirstCaribbean.
Prior to joining CIBC FirstCaribbean, Pim held a variety of senior international positions within ABN AMRO, in the areas of Corporate and Investment Banking and Wealth Management. For that bank he was responsible for implementation of the Transactional Banking concept in the Latin American region with a focus on the eastern part of South America and the Caribbean basin, and for the sale of the ABN AMRO retail businesses in the Dutch Caribbean.
Pim van der Burg received a degree in business and civil law at Erasmus University Law School in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He also participated in the Strategic Management in Banking program at INSEAD, Fontainebleau, and is a graduate of the FirstCaribbean Executive Education program at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
